"Hello, I'm Steve Batts and I'm the Artistic Director of Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company.
I'm also the father of two young children. I want them to grow up in a world where I can share with them a rich tapestry of inclusive high quality varied artistic opportunities, to join in with, through watching, listening and participating.
The reality is that the only way that it is currently possible to do that is through public subsidy of the arts. Without proper support, the high quality and consistency of work, which Echo Echo and other Northern Ireland based organisations and artists aspire to becomes impossible.
Discussions about how to divide up the cake between professional arts, participatory arts, community arts, music, theatre, visual arts, etcetera, are like something from 'Alice in Wonderland', when the cake plate holds only a few crumbs.
One thing that we can learn from great artists is that if something is worth doing, is worth doing well.
We should increase support for the arts, not decrease it" (Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company, Steve Batts)

"My name is Ollie Green and I'm the Artistic Director of Greater Shantallow Community Arts.
Greater Shantallow Community Arts provides direct access to the arts for people who live in one of the most deprived communities here in the north of Ireland.
Cuts to the arts in a community such as ours will mean less people, less children, will get access to the arts in an area that it is needed badly" (@Greater Shantallow Community Arts , Oliver Green)
